Body hair removal for men has come a long way in recent years and is fast becoming the norm.
It used to only be women who removed body hair unless you were a cyclist, bodybuilder, swimmer etc but now, more and more, men also want the smooth look.
Male body hair has certainly become less acceptable in recent years, particularly among the older teens to 30s generation.
This is fueled, perhaps, by the many tv reality programs where the young and the beautiful (and often stupid) are thrown together on tropical islands wearing very little. It is noticeable that most of the guys are usually devoid of any body hair.
Actually, while sourcing images to use on this website, I soon realized that although there are many available of men with no body hair, there are very few of hairy men. Those that do exist seem to do so just to ridicule hairy men. There are very few which show men’s body hair in a positive light. That must show that society as a whole is not in favor of it.
Being someone who has become hairier the older I get, I have been removing chest, stomach and back hair for many years. Yes even “other” body hair at times too – these days called “manscaping“.
Over those years I have tried many methods of removing body hair. Some were easy to use and gave good results while others were difficult, messy, and sometimes gave poor results.
I have a specific page detailing the various methods of removing back hair – so please check that out here ===> Best back hair removal products for men.
Removing hair from chest, stomach and other “parts” …
Here I cover the various methods that you can do yourself at home. I have not included waxing, mainly because I have never tried it and I don’t want to advise on something I haven’t done. The main reason I haven’t waxed is that I don’t like pain! (If you are less of a wimp than me you may want to give it a try).
Electric Body Hair Trimmers
Body groomers are the easiest to use generally for body hair removal and make the least mess – well you just need to sweep afterwards. You just run the trimmer over the area you wish to remove the body hair and away it goes. You can choose to shave closely or just trim. Obviously this is not a permanent fix as it will grow back.
All good body hair trimmers come with a set of different length comb attachments to allow you to choose how long you want the hair to be after use. You don’t have to fully get rid of it. Sometimes just a trim is enough. Start with a long comb and if that isn’t short enough go with a shorter one.
You can shave/trim both with and against the grain of the hair growth. Against the grain will normally give the closest shave though.
My best body groomer picks are:
The Lawn Mower 2.0 Professional Personal Trimmer
I have only recently discovered this body hair trimmer and I have to say I am impressed with it, and particularly with its low price.

The Philips Norelco Bodygroomer Series 7001
I have used this model for the past 3 months and it works incredibly well.
It is not expensive and if it lasts as long as my Series 3001 (see below) then it will be a very good investment too.

The Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 3100
I have used this model at home, for the past 2 years or so and cannot fault it’s all-round performance.

Home Laser Hair Removers
This is the only method with claims of permanent hair removal, although it may take a while to achieve this.
These are known as IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) devices so strictly speaking they are not laser hair removers at all. They do however operate in a similar way to lasers by targeting certain properties of the hair, in this case the pigment (color), in order to remove it.
IPL hair removers work by intense light penetrating the hair shaft. This then kills the hair root. Although the hair follicle isn’t killed it does make regrowth much more difficult. It may not be permanent but will usually last a much longer time than other methods.
They do work better on men who have lighter colored skin with darker hair so are not generally suitable for white or blond hair or for African-American males.
One of the most popular of these devices, with the highest number of positive reviews, is the Braun Gillette Venus Silk-Expert IPL 5008.

Body Hair Removal Creams
There are a number of different hair removal creams on the market. Most work ok although some I have used have either smelt really awful or they weren’t very kind to my skin.
The best body hair removal cream for men that I have used, with the most success, is the Nair For Men Hair Removal Body Cream.
I found this product was very kind to my skin, unlike some others I bought in stores. I have used it on hair on ALL parts of my body without any adverse reactions at all.
It is very easy and quick to use, without pain. The pump action is particularly easy to use. It can just be washed off in the shower after it has done its work.
You obviously don’t like being hairy (otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this) so take that first step to a smoother body and choose from one of my tried, tested and recommended body hair removal products today by clicking on the button below!
